The 2018 activity report of the 5% Initiative is available.
In 2018, the 5% Initiative committed 78 technical assistance missions with a budget of €4.3 million. 55 long-term projects were underway with a budget of €10.2 million. Africa alone accounts for 80% of financial commitments, while Southeast Asia accounts for 18% and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Eastern Europe for 2%. In addition, a Pilot Channel now responds to strategic challenges linked to the changing needs and priorities of countries, the Global Fund and France. Three projects are being implemented in several sub-Saharan African countries, for a total amount of €2 million.
On the eve of the 6th Global Fund replenishment conference to be held on 9 and 10 October 2019 in France, the 5% Initiative is ready to highlight the results of France's commitment to the fight against pandemics and to support advocacy for a Global Fund.
We thank Christelle Boulanger who, after nearly four years as Technical Director of the 5% Initiative, has left the system for new functions. We also thank Magda Lopes Queta, Jeremy Frere, Sonia Emprin, Anne-Laure Annic, Fanny Delgutte, Audrey Ducros, Anabel Rodriguez, Gabrielle Hersent, Yoana Pavlova and Aurélie Bonfils who left the 5% Initiative for a new professional pursuits after having occupied the positions of project manager, administrative and financial coordinator, monitoring and evaluation manager, project assistant and pharmaceutical and drug expert respectively. The results of this activity report are due in part to their involvement and to the quality of their work. We wish them continued success in their future careers.
